Volunteer Week 1st - 7th June 2018

It’s that time of year again: National Volunteers Week. Organisations across the UK will be taking this opportunity to thank the many volunteers that make such great contributions to their work.

How we plan to celebrate

Healthwatch Hertfordshire is no exception, and we intend to make sure all of our volunteers feel celebrated and valued.

A number of you may remember last year’s event that we held to celebrate the work volunteers had been doing for the organisation in 2016-17. It also launched our brand new volunteer induction programme, and two new volunteering roles. The overhaul meant more formalised training for our volunteers, as well as ensuring there is a mutual understanding between volunteers and the organisation for what is expected in each role. This also meant that all volunteers are given as much information as possible when they begin to volunteer with us, so they know the organisation as well as possible, and not just their own role.

All through Volunteers’ Week we’ll be publishing interviews with some of our amazing volunteers, to explore what motivates them to work with us, and how they have found volunteering with Healthwatch Hertfordshire. As well as this, we will be highlighting some newly developed roles – as well as the longer standing roles – to showcase the work that our volunteers do, and hopefully tempt some more people to join.

Plans for the day

This year, we’ll be holding another event to thank and to celebrate our volunteers and the work put in during 2017-18.

This will take place on:

Tuesday 5th June from 3.00 pm at Birchwood Leisure Centre in Hatfield.

And will involve: Tea and Cakes!

We’re hoping all of our current and long-standing volunteers will be able to attend and celebrate with us. We will also be introducing the new sign up procedure to longer-standing volunteers to ensure all volunteers are aware of what is expected, and what support we will provide in return.
