MacMillan Cancer Support - Helping those living with and affected by cancer

MacMillan has appointed a local Engagement Lead to support those living with cancer in Hertfordshire. If you or someone you care about has been diagnosed with cancer, they can help to do whatever it takes to help them live life as fully as they can.

Who are MacMillan?

MacMillan provides services for people living with cancer, at every stage of their cancer experience. They offer emotional, practical, physical and financial support to those living with cancer, as well as those supporting or caring for someone with cancer. 

What support can MacMillan offer?

MacMillan has a Support Line which is open 7 days a week from 8:00am to 8:00pm. The Support Line offers a range of support including:

  • Emotional support, practical information and signposting to other specialist services.
  • Information about your diagnosis, treatment, how to manage symptoms and side effects.
  • Information on benefits and support you may be entitled to and guidance on making applications. 
  • Financial guidance including information on pensions, insurance, mortgages, estate and financial planning.
  • Information and support on energy costs.
  • Information and advice on work issues, including rights at work, reasonable adjustments, returning to work and carers' rights.

Using the online chat function

MacMillan also have an Online Community where people living with cancer can share their experiences and find emotional and practical support from others, as well as receive expert advice from MacMillan professionals.

Local support

MacMillan has recruited an Engagement Lead for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. Their role is to support people living with and affected by cancer through community work, peer support, reducing health inequalities and user involvement.
