Background to the fundraising

In September we told you about the Trans Awareness Black Tie Dinner to raise funds for the transgender community. Following this successful charity event, we are pleased to say that almost £5,000 has been raised to support  the work of the Hertfordshire Transgender Implementation Group.

One of the primary objectives for the group is to create more awareness of transgender issues within the GP community and to this end, the group has created a poster to be displayed at local GP surgeries. Designed to be simple and clear, the hope is it will signpost straight to the Synestra CIC website. This in turn should help give transgender people, and their families, some direction and guidance to the support and help that is available.

We are proud of the work we have done with our partners over the years to help raise awareness of the barriers faced by the transgender community in accessing health and social care services and we will continue to provide feedback (good and bad) to commissioners to improve services.
