NHS Consultation: Last Chance!

There’s not long left until this important consultation closes! Although there has been a good response rate so far, there are still many of you who haven’t shared your views yet.

What are the consultations about?

The consultations from NHS East and North Hertfordshire and NHS Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), the organisations that plan and fund health services in Hertfordshire, put forward policy proposals on the following topics:

  • IVF and specialist fertility services
  • Requiring patients to improve their health before non-urgent surgery
  • Prescribing of medicines available to buy over-the-counter
  • Prescribing of gluten free foods
  • Female sterilisation procedures
  • Vasectomy procedures (Herts Valleys CCG area only)

The 10 week public consultations are a result of a number of challenges faced by Hertfordshire CGGs. These challenges include, the number of people who need health service support increasing, and many people are living longer, often with complex conditions. National and local shortages of NHS staff meaning that CCGs have to ensure staff time is used the best way possible.  The need to encourage people to think carefully about their own wellbeing so that they live healthier lives, avoiding preventable illnesses and have the very best chance of recovering well from surgery.

How can I have a say?
