On behalf of those responsible for shaping palliative and end of life care, NHS East of England and Marie Curie are conducting a survey to understand the experiences of people in the East of England.

During the past year, we have continued to involve communities in our work, tackled key health and social care issues and kept our focus on making care fairer.

An Extraordinary General Meeting was held earlier this month to elect Trustees to serve on the Healthwatch Hertfordshire Board. During the meeting, which was held on 2nd May 2024, five new candidates were elected.

Work to achieve our ambition of making research more inclusive, accessible and diverse continues, with completion of a second phase of work engaging with local communities about their views on NHS research.

Two Hertfordshire NHS Trusts have earned Veteran Aware accreditation, recognising their expertise in addressing the needs of the Armed Forces Community when providing community-based healthcare services.

Healthwatch Hertfordshire has been commended nationally for its Cost of Living research, which led to local mental health services teaming up with money advice specialists to help those struggling both financially and emotionally.

Since it was launched in September 2021, the Community Assembly for the East and North Herts Health and Care Partnership has grown from strength to strength. Chaired by Healthwatch Hertfordshire, the Assembly has explored issues of concern and heard about some exciting new projects aimed at improving patient experience.

A local project aimed at improving detection and management of Atrial Fibrillation in ethnically diverse communities has provided valuable insights into work that can be done to prevent heart disease.
