Feeling anxious or worried? You’re not alone.

Stress from the pandemic, lockdowns and the Russia/Ukraine war has taken a toll on all of us - but there is help available.

You may think others are not struggling with stress and anxiety, but things have been tough for the last few years and you are not alone in feeling the way you do.

For some, even the recent lifting of Covid-19 restrictions was a new cause for alarm despite the fact it was seen as welcome news for many others.

I don’t know where to get help.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or maybe just ‘not yourself’ then a good place to start locally is Hertfordshire’s mental health trust (HPFT).

They have launched a new series of live webinars to help people learn ways to cope with anxiety and make positive changes.

The next session about managing worry and uncertainty is being held on Wednesday 1st June, 2022. You can find out more at: Managing worry and uncertainty | HPFT IAPT Services (hpft-iapt.nhs.uk)

The webinars are interactive, but microphones and cameras will be switched off so you will remain anonymous.

HPFT also has a range of online self-help videos that focus on topics including stress, sleep, nature and wellbeing, tips for healthcare staff and mindfulness.

Where else can I get help?

Are there any things I can do for myself?

Step one is to make sure you take care of yourself – mind and body.

  • Exercise in the fresh air;
  • Connect with friends and family – stay in touch and try not to isolate yourself;
  • Read your favourite book, watch a good film or find nice ways to unwind and relax;
  • Maintain a healthy diet;
  • Limit the amount of news and current affairs that you are exposed to.

Give yourself a break. Take a moment to look at your achievements and appreciate your strengths.
