Changes to outpatient activity made in response to Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, there have been local changes to the NHS provision of non-essential outpatient appointments.

What do these changes mean?

These changes follow national guidance and started on the 20th of March and are expected to last for a minimum of 3 months.

The NHS want to ensure that there are enough beds available to meet the expected increase in need because of Covid-19, and to allow staff to respond to this pressing demand.

In Hertfordshire, some Hospital Trusts are moving outpatient appointments to phone or video calls in order to reduce face-to-face contact and some are cancelling appointments until further notice. Some non-essential surgery may also be cancelled until further notice. Information on the action that each Trust is taking in our area can be found by following the links below.

You do not need to call the hospital about this. If there is a change to your appointment, you will be contacted directly. However, if you are concerned you can call the department using the number on your appointment letter.

It is important that you continue to attend urgent, emergency care (including appointments for cancer treatment) or antenatal appointments as normal, unless you are informed otherwise.
